Bhoomika Maheshwari, Ramanujan Fellow at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata, India, will visit IFIC from 7th September to 3rd October.

Her research explores the underlying physics of nuclear excited states, with particular emphasis on the origin of metastable states, namely nuclear isomers, and the role of symmetries in shaping the properties of atomic nuclei. She extends the generalized seniority framework to investigate higher-order multipole electromagnetic transitions and their connection to nuclear structure. Her interests also encompass emerging computational approaches, including physics-informed machine learning and single-step quantum computing simulations within the nuclear shell model. She is the principal author and driving force behind the "Atlas of Nuclear Isomers", a comprehensive data catalogue that systematically curates information on known isomeric states and serves as a valuable resource for the nuclear physics community.
