Dr. Jishnu visits IFIC from 9th to 13th October 2023
Dr. Jishnu visits IFIC from 9th to 13th October 2023.
Dr. Jishnu obtained his Ph.D. at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi, Kerala, India, 2016. Following his doctoral studies, he took up postdoctoral positions at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Pune, India, and subsequently at the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. His research primarily involves developing tools and statistical methods to search for stochastic gravitational-wave backgrounds --these are the incoherent superpositions of gravitational-wave signals that are either too weak or too numerous to be detected individually. He has been actively involved in the searches for such background using the data from LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA detectors.
At the IFIC seminar on October 10th at 12h (Europe/Madrid), Jishnu will provide insights into the stochastic gravitational-wave background and elaborate on diverse search strategies. More information about his talk can be found here: https://indico.ific.uv.es/event/7235/
His office at IFIC is B-6-3
