Artemisa is the computing platform at IFIC dedicated to AI-based projects of research, development and innovation. Any group operating in a Spanish state-funded university or research center can apply for its use. Artemisa is funded by the 2014-2020 ERDF Operational Program of Comunitat Valenciana.
This research line of IFIC covers several interdisciplinary aspects such as the basic properties of neutrinos and the future experiments in this field, the origin of neutrino mass and their mixing angles, neutrinos as messengers in astrophysics and cosmology, bariogenesis and leptogenesis, dark matter, ultra high-energy cosmic rays and others.
This research line takes advantage of large particle accelerators to study the most elementary components of matter. At present, this line is focused on two large projects: the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN and the future linear colliders: ILC (International Linear Collider) and CLIC (Compact Linear Collider). IFIC has participated in the construction of several systems of the ATLAS detector and in the computing and data management related to the data supplied by this detector. IFIC also participates in other two experiments of the LHC: LHCb and MoEDAL, as well as in Belle II of the accelerator SuperKEKB.
IFIC researchers develop a prototype for the deployment and validation of radiodiagnostic support systems based on Artificial Intelligence models, which will facilitate the interpretation of clinical findings and evidence in radiological images in hospitals.
IFIC researchers in this line work in a broad range of studies in nuclear physics and its applications: gamma spectroscopy, extreme nuclear states, nuclear waste incineration, stellar nuclear reactions. Likewise, they are involved in the construction of the detectors for the large European infrastructure FAIR.
This line studies Quantum Chromodynamics, especially its perturbative aspects. Several approaches are used, such as effective field theories, chiral perturbation theory or phenomenological lagrangians, such as that of the resonance chiral theory. A variety of goals are pursued, for instance, the theoretical and phenomenological study of QCD in hadron colliders, the study of the hadronic phenomenology in the resonance region, such as in the hadron decays of the tau lepton or in the semileptonic decays of the D mesons and others.
