Dr. Pier Paolo Giardino from the Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (IGFAE) at the University of Santiago de Compostela visits IFIC from 11th to 13rd December 2023.
 

Pier Paolo Giardino received his PhD in physics in 2013 from the University of Pisa. He later joined the University of Roma Tre as a postdoctoral fellow, where he worked on precision electroweak physics, before moving to Brookhaven National Laboratory in the US and the Instituto de Física Teórica in Madrid, where he worked on Effective Field Theories and theories beyond the Standard Model. Since 2021, he has held the position of Investigador Distinguido "Manuela Barreiro" at the Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (IGFAE) at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he continues to work on Effective Field Theories and precision studies of the properties of the Higgs boson as tools for investigating new physics.
