Prof. Nicola Neri visits IFIC from April 15th to 16th, 2025

Mon, 14/04/2025 - 01:04

Nicola Neri is Associate Professor at the University of Milan and a researcher at INFN. He obtained his Master's and PhD in Physics from the University of Pisa, completing his doctorate in 2005 with one of the first measurements of the CKM angle γ in B−→D0K− decays at the BaBar experiment (SLAC). He later coordinated BaBar’s charm physics working group and contributed to studies of D0−Dˉ0 mixing.

Since 2013, he has been a member of the LHCb collaboration, where he served as Deputy Project Leader for the Upstream Tracker (2017–2024), overseeing its design and construction. His work at LHCb includes key contributions to the first measurements of CP violation in Λb decays and the discovery of new pentaquark states.

Neri is Principal Investigator of the ERC Consolidator Grant SELDOM (2018–2025), developing novel techniques to measure dipole moments of strange and charm baryons at the LHC. He currently contributes to the effort for the development of the proposed ALADDIN experiment at CERN, dedicated to direct measurements of charm baryon dipole moments.

His office at IFIC is 1.2.3 (first floor, IFIC)
